Eradication Of Illicit Trade

In its ongoing efforts to curb the trade of counterfeits in Kenya, the Anti-Counterfeit Agency (ACA) destroyed assorted goods worth KShs. 40 million.
The destruction exercise which took place at Envirosafe Limited located within EPZ Athi River was witnessed by Dr Chris Kiptoo, the Principal Secretary, State Department of Trade in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Co-operatives, Mr Wanyama Musiambo, the Deputy Head of Public Service and the Coordinator of the multi-agency campaign on illicit trade and Hon. Kanini Kega, Chairman, Parliamentary Committee for trade, industry and cooperatives.
The fight against counterfeits and Illicit trade is a national priority. Dr Kiptoo said counterfeits diminish efforts to achieve President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big Four Plan noting that every pillar of the agenda is gravely affected and inundated with counterfeits and criminal networks.
