EPZA & Nandi County Sign MoU

Hon. Stephen Sang, Nandi County Governor and Mr Fanuel Kidenda, Chief Executive Officer, Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) holding signed MoU documents with regard to the development of an EPZ industrial Zone in Chemase in Nandi County.
The Governor said the zone will attract a wide range of export-oriented investors keen on adding value to some of the agricultural produce that the county is in rich in.
The Authority is seeking to establish more zones in all the 47 counties to replicate the economic impacts the initiative has had in the regions they have been situated.
Other than Nandi, Bomet, Vihiga, Busia and Nyandarua Counties have shown interests in setting up EPZs and have even earmarked suitable land for the development of industrial parks.
In 2017, the County Government of Homa Bay and EPZA signed a lease agreement to zone 100 acres for the establishment of an EPZ in Riwa, West Karachuonyo with the aim of attracting new export-oriented investments in agro-processing; cotton industry, leather and fruit processing among other industries.
